„Die with zero„ by Bill Perkins

“Die with Zero” by Bill Perkins is such an eye-opening book! Especially for those of us who have been so focused on making money that we forget what actually is important in life. The author really flips the usual advice about saving money on its head. Instead of saving up a ton of money for retirement, he says we should focus on spending our money on experiences and adventures throughout our lives. He makes a great point that money is for making memories and enjoying life, not just for piling up in a bank account. He shares practical tips on how to balance saving, spending, and giving away money, helping you your principles and way of living.

Bill Perkins doesn’t hesitate to bring up the story of the “Ant and the Grasshopper” by Aesop, asking the very valid and provocative question: When is the ant having fun? If you know the tale, the ant works hard all summer storing food for winter (like most of us investors), while the grasshopper enjoys the sunny days. Perkins argues that we shouldn’t just be like the ant, working tirelessly without enjoying life. Instead, we need a balance. He shares personal stories and fun examples to show why it’s better to enjoy our money now, while we can still fully appreciate those experiences. “Die with Zero” really made me reconsider some of the values I had. As a side effect, it also lowered my stress, expectations, and self-pressure.

It’s a must-read for anyone who wants to make the most out of every moment and avoid the regret of missed opportunities. Perkins’ message is clear: live life fully and intentionally, making sure you don’t miss out on the joys and experiences that make life truly worthwhile. This book inspired me to write the article “Тичам щурчо за храна”, which is still waiting for me to find time and translate it in English ;).
